I was born on May 8, 1988 in Hershey, PA. My birth began my life long journey of overcoming challenges. I was born a week late, which caused problems from the beginning of my life. The delivery was very difficult for my mother because the umbilical cord was wrapped around my neck and I almost died. I wasn’t responding like an average new born, so the doctors examined me further and diagnosed me with Cerebral Palsy. The doctors told my parents I would never be able to walk, talk, or function physically or mentally at my appropriate age level. They said I would need to have life long medical care and recommended A. I. Duepont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. I began going there when I was two months old.
